Agroforestry Practices – Forest Farming

Advantages of Pine Straw in your landscape: It offers the best level of acidity for your plants to soak up maximum soil nutrients It doesn't drift and wash away and breaks down more gradually, so it does not need to be reapplied as often as other mulches It is easier to manage and lighter per cubic foot than other mulches: one big bale can cover as much area as 30 cubic feet of most mulches the expense per square foot is competitive with other mulches It breathes much better, does not compact, and permits much better water infiltration It is easy to use: just unroll the bales and scatter by hand It does not draw in termites It adds natural product and nutrients to soil and decreases weeds The consistent color and great texture of pine straw highlights the color, contrast, and texture of your landscape You can use it for erosion control where turf won't grow to hold soil, even on hillsides and paths

Can I Use Pine Bedding For Hamsters In My (Strawberry) Container Garden?
I Was Told A Layer Of Straw Would Help Prevent Bugs And Fruit Rot In My Strawberry Container Garden. Straw Is Not Easily Available Where I Live, But I Can Get Pet Bedding Such As Pine Or Aspen Shavings. Would That Work, Or Would It Hurt The Soil/Plants? Thanks!

I checked out quite a few sites and a lot of them suggested using pine needles to mulch your strawberry plants. They say it will help deter snails and slugs. It also helps to keep the berries clean. Pine needles are acidic and strawberries thrive in acidic soil.

Where Can I Buy Some Pine Needle Mulch (Pinestraw).?
I Want To Buy Some Bales Of Pine Needles To Use As Mulch In My Front Yard. I Want It Cheap Too! Where Can I Look To Buy This From?

You should be able to purchase from Home and Garden stores or Nurseries. If you live in a area that has Pine trees in peoples yards, you may find bags of Pine Straw by the curbs when the home owners clean up their yards as well. I live in The Deep South and the latter supply is very common.

Landlord Holding Deposit Due To Straw In Back Yard. House Immaculate,Grass Cut. 44 Bags Of Straw. Legal?
Landlord Upset Because We Left. Expects Us To Get All Straw Up In A Yard With 8 Pine Trees

Straw does not fall from trees, you are confusing people. Pine needles.

If your lease includes yard maintenance you obviously failed to maintain it. I am surprised the county fire marshall did not fine the heck out of you. They would in CA.

He can charge you whatever it costs to haul that away. I would guess, based on costs in CA, where I will, that this will be about 300.
