Does Pine Wood Shavings Attract Snakes??!?
So I Have Rabbits Nd I Keep Them Outside In This Shelter Type Thing With A Little Gate Made Out Of Chicken Wire On The Front.I Usually Have Straw Covering The Concrete Floor. But My Parents Don'T Allow Me To Keep Any Type Of Straw Or Hay On Th Floor During The Summer Because It Attracts Snakes. But I Like To Have Some Covering The Concrete Floor Because It'S Less Of A Mess. Can I Lay A Thin Layer Of Pine Wood Shaving On The Floor??Will It Attract Snakes.?Please Help Me!?!
Pine is toxic to snakes and to rabbits as well(I would believe). I don't see how hay would attract snakes..
Is It Safe To Use Straw For Guinea Pigs' Bedding?
I Can'T Find Aspen, Pine, Corn-Cob, Or Wood Pellet Bedding Around My Area. The Only Three Options It Seems Like Are Straw, Cedar, And Fleece Blankets. My Mom Won'T Let Me Use Fleece, Because She Says It Would Be Too Hard To Vacuum Every Day, And I Would Never Put An Animal Through Torture Of Using Cedar Shavings. If Straw Isn'T Safe, Can You Suggest Anything Else?
It really upsets me to see people get guinea pigs that have no way or knowledge to take care of them. They take a lot of special care and feeding to keep them healthy.. Mine are over 6 years old. Wood pellets, or corn cob will cause damage to their feet. The webs will tell you how to care for you piggie. Wal-Mart, K-mart, farm supply stores, pet stores have Aspen or Care Fresh bedding. Ceder is poisonous to rodents. I have to make a 60 mile round trip to get aspen bedding for my piggies.
I suggest you study the webs below to properly care for your piggie.
