My Society Finches Wont Go Near Their Nest Or Nesting Material, They Act Like They Are Scared What Can I Do?
I Have A Breeding Pair Of Society Finches And The Male Was Doing The Mating Dance And Song So We Went Last Night And Got A Nest For Them. I Placed The Nest In The Cage And My Husband Made A Ball To Put Some Shredded Paper In For Nesting Material But They Will Not Go Near The Nest Or Material. What Can I Do, These Are My First Finches And I Am Not 100% Sure What I Am Doing. I Have Read Several Things About Breeding Them So I Have An Idea. I Did Not Put Any Of The Nesting Material In The Nest As I Was Told To Let The Male Do All The Work. Should I Place Some Of The Material In The Nest? The Nest Is Also At A Little Bit Of A Lean Would This Cause A Problem? Should I Change The Nesting Material To Grass And Pine Straw? Thanks For The Help.
I have bread and raised society finches and they really like the string nesting material that comes in a little box that you put in the cage(can be found at pet co or pet smart). Also make sure that you have a nest that is a box with a whole or some other closed nest. they will not nest in the canary nest that are bowl shaped. Also it will take a little bit for them to get used to the nest being in the cage with them(a day or two) Just put them somewhere that they have sun light for a few hours and also where they will not be disturbed....if you move them around a lot they will not stay on their eggs.
Advise Please, One Of My Pine Trees Is Turning Yellow?
A Couple Months Ago I Bought Three Pine Trees (4Ft. Tall Each) To Put On The Backyard. Recently One Of The Trees Has Been Turning Yellow And I Don'T Know The Cause. I'M Afraid I'Ll Have To Get Rid It Which Is The Last Thing I Want To Do Since They Were Expensive.
I am not a tree expert, but I have planted several pines on my property. Since I'm not sure where you live, I will just offer a couple of things I know.
First, pines require pretty acidic soil to thrive. I know you can get soil testing done if you want. It's not expensive, but you'd probably have to contact a nursery for that.
Second, there could be stress done to one of your three trees b/c of the transplant. Don't know if they were in pots before the move or in the ground, but some trees don't take well to new environments. It sounds like the others are doing fine, though.
Next, don't over-water pines. You may check to see if there are any insects or obvious defects on the tree that differ from the other two. Some pines naturally turn yellow during fall and even needle dropping is nothing to worry about.
No real solution for you, but just some food for thought. Hope it helps some, but hey if the tree is dying, you might contact the place you bought it from and tell them. There's always a chance for a new tree or a refund (even if it's been a couple of months).
Is It Ok To Use Colored News Paper For Bunny Litter? All Newpaper Seems To Be Colored Now Adays.?
Do They Like To Pee On Hay Or Just Eat It??
It should be okay, but I would use Newspaper Shreddings because it's easier for them to get comfortable in the litter box.
And it's eaisier to clean.
If your bunny seems to be eating the shreddings you should take them away and replace it with something like
*Pine Shavings
*Cat Litter
*Sand
*Aspen Shavings
*Hay/ Straw
I use Pine shavings, they work better than most of the above, because their easy to clean, and they smell good.
My baby bunny who is 6 weeks old, and I've only had for 5 days, is completely litter trainied to use a litter pan.
And it works really well for me.
Umm, the only thing you shouldn't use as bedding is CEDER SHAVINGS they contain toxic odors which may kill your bunny.

Question About Chinchilla...?
Why Does My Chinchillas Cage Keeps Getting Maggots In It? I Can Clean It & 2 Days Later They'Re Every Where ? What Would Cause This . Whats The Best Bedding To Use .. Ive Been Using The Timothy Hay.
Switch to kiln dried pine or aspen and you shouldn't have this problem. Hay is not an appropriate bedding for a chinchilla, and neither is straw. Quite a few beddings available on the market today are unsafe for chins, so be sure that it's an approved bedding before you buy. Never use Cedar as it is toxic to chins (and pretty much every other animal).
I clean my cages once a week and have never had an issue with maggots using kiln dried pine.

Rottening Tomatoes On The Vine?
My Tomato Plants Look Very Healthy And Have Lots Of Green Tomatoes On Them, However, I'Ve Had A Few That Just Rot On The Vine. Someone Told Me It Could Be Because I Mulched Them With Pine Straw, Which Adds Acid To The Soil. Any Suggestions?
the spray is wonderful for this blossom end rot problem..... lacking that, get some TUMS.. the plain kind.... crush up about ten of them and add them to a gallon of water..... share the water around up to six plants.....works for me....next year, save up egg shells and bury them where you'll plant tomatoes that next season......takes care of the problem.....
too much or too little watering is also a cause.... http://www.gardeners.com/Blossom-End-Rot...
