Advantages of Long Leaf Pine Straw in your landscaping: It offers the best level of acidity for your plants to soak up optimum soil nutrients It does not drift and remove and breaks down more gradually, so it doesn't have to be reapplied as frequently as other mulches It is easier to manage and lighter per cubic foot than other mulches: one large bale can cover as much location as 30 cubic feet of most mulches the expense per square foot is competitive with other mulches It breathes much better, doesn't compact, and permits much better water infiltration It is simple to use: simply unroll the bales and scatter by hand It doesn't attract termites It adds organic material and nutrients to soil and decreases weeds The consistent color and fine texture of pine straw highlights the color, contrast, and texture of your landscape You can use it for erosion control where grass will not grow to hold soil, even on hillsides and paths

Rabbit Behavior! What Am I Doing Wrong!?
I Got A Little Lionhead Ribbit In Early April, All Seemed To Be Well For The First Cuple Of Weeks. But Now She Is Almost Imposible To Care For, I Cannot Brush Her Becuase She Runs Away When I Touch Her, Also She Chews Everything! Wood, Books On My Bookshelf, Fabrics Ect. Not Only Is She Ruining My Stuff Its Probably The Very Health For Her To Injest All Of That Stuff. I Ned Help, I Have No Clue What To Do. I Try To Interact With Her For Hours On End With No Results, Alwell I Have Spent Plenty Of Money On Toys She Has No Interest In. What Is It That I Am Doing Wrong?? Does She Need A Friend? More Room? More Play Time?

Did you rabbits proof the area she runs around in? Here's how to rabbit proof.

My rabbits like free/homemade toys way better than store bought toys. You can make her a box house. Here's the one I made for my bunnies and they love it.

My bunnies also love this.

Some other toys my bunnies love are
cardboard tunnels
apple tree twigs
towel to dig in and rearrange
clean empty soup can with no sharp edges
hard plastic baby toys like baby keys
toilet paper tubes
pine cones baked at 200 degrees for 20-30 minutes
hard plastic cat toys with a bell inside
untreated wicker baskets
straw whisk broom
digging bow filled with shredded paper, hay or dirt to dig in

My rabbits also love lots of the toys on this website.

She will be happier with a friend and they will keep each other busy and she may be less destructive. If your rabbit is not spayed you will need to get her spayed if you want her to get along with another rabbit and if you get another rabbit, that rabbit will need to be fixed. Neutered male and spayed females get along the best but you can get a female is shes spayed. Rabbits at shelters are already fixed.

More room and more floor time may help and it would be good if she could have more time and space.

I know how you feel my rabbit has destroyed hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. Rabbits can be very destructive. It helps if you find toys that she likes changing toys often so doesn't get bored.

Most rabbit do not like to be touched, you will need to catch her if you need to brush her, just try not to stress her out too much but if she need to be brushed or needs her nails clipped she will just need to be caught.

Average Cost Of Keeping A Horse?
I Am Currently Sharing A Horse But I Really Want My Own. I Pay £30 A Week To Share But I Was Wondering How Much It Would Cost To Just Keep A Horse, I Know That It Will Be A Lot More. I Would Want To Keep The Horse On Diy Livery With All Year Turnout And Keep It On Straw (I Hate Woodchips). If Some Body Could Just Give Me An Estimation It Would Help A Lot! Thanks! 🙂

I'm going to assume you live the UK.
I live in America, so my costs are going to be different from yours.

Well, first there is the general cost of a horse and then all the tack, brushes, rugs, etc.
Each month I pay $30 for barefoot trimming. If my horse has shoes, it's $60.
On feed each month for one 1100pound horse, it's going to cost about $180 depending on the season(costs more in winter) and hay quality.
For wormer, it's about $5 each month.
For bedding I'm given pine shavings from my neighbor, but it would cost about $20 each month for bedding.
About $150 each vet visit, assuming nothing is wrong and the horse is healthy, every 6 months.
On top of all that, you'll want to have $5,000 on hand for any emergency that should arise. For example a sudden broken leg, emergency colic surgery, etc.

That's about $3,120 on the necessities each year.

Help Me Take Care Of This Baby Bird, Please!! :)?
My Husband Cut Down A Very Dead Pine Tree Today In Our Back Yard. As He Was Chainsawing It Into Pieces, He Discovered Inside The Tree 4 Baby Woodpeckers, 2 Dead, 1 Injured, And 1 That Seems Okay. We Didn'T Know What To Do With Them, Considering That All The Websites I Researched Said To Place The Birds Back In Their Nest Or Somewhere Near Around There And The Parents Will Come Back To Take Care Of It...... But, We Live In South Alabama, Where Snakes Are Starting To Come Out In The Hundreds, Our Neighbors Have Outside Cats And Dogs, And A Storm Is Fast Approaching As I Type This.... So, We Took A Box, Filled It With Pine Straw, Grass, And Whatever Else We Could Find To Make A &Quot;Make-Shift&Quot; Nest, And Nailed The Box To The Tree. I Placed Both The Injured One And The Seemingly Okay Babies In The Box, Hoping Their Parents Would Come To Take Care Of Them. This Was Early This Morning. It Is Now 6 Oclock At Night. The Injured Bird Is Now Dead, And The Other Is Still Alive. The &Quot;Nest&Quot; We Created Is Now Filled With Ants From The Dead Baby Bird. I Have Brought The Other Baby Inside My Home, And Have Called Serveral Vets Who Act Like They Could Give A Rats *** About This Poor Bird, I Guess Because Today Is Saturday. My Question Is How Can I Help Keep This Poor Woodpecker Baby Alive Until I Can Take It To A Vet On Monday. I Know It Is Illegal To Have Any Wild Animal In A Persons Possesion, But I Can'T Just Leave It Out There In The Storm, Where The Snakes, Ants, Or Other Animals Can Get It. Someone Please Help Me With Some Advice On How To Help This Poor Thing Survive Until Monday. Thanks A Million!

Warmth is the key. Get a hot-water bottle or a heat lamp or heat pad and put it under the box. Never feed a baby bird when it is cold! Next, research the food a wood pecker eats. I suggest meal worms, not earth worms, as they carry a disease in their gut. Offer it like a mumma bird does, wave it over the baby's head. If it doesn't respond get a card or something and wedge open the bird's beak. slide the meal worm down. You can feel the crop to see when it is full. The crop is situated under the beak and is a pouch that holds a bird's food until it is ready to be digested. Repeat every 2 hours or so. Ring the emergancy vets and see if they'll take the baby.
To administer water, you can either drop it in with your fingers or rely on the food to contain water. You could apply water with a syringe or crop needle but I'm guessing you have lttle to no experience with either of those.

Our Downspout Is Clogged With Pine Needles?
How Do I Get It Unclogged?

Pine needles can be a great curse in guttering's! And there is a couple of ways of avoid them blocking your downpipes.

One way is to roll up a small coil of chicken netting up into a roll & inserting it into the down pipe within the guttering. But that doesn't solve the whole problem & stop the gutters for ever blocking BUT my next suggestion works perfectly!!

On the market at some plumbing merchants is a plastic product called Gutter Guards.... These can be in a form of plastic box that sits either right under the guttering .It consists of a box shaped container with a gauze on a 45 degree angle & an outlet below it to let the water pass through but stopping any pine needles & any other rubbish from entering a water tank or blocking an under ground system. Any pine needles caught on this gauze, is either brushed off by a human hand or the wind may blow them off! This way it doesn't matter how much pine needles land on the roof they, won't in Future block guttering's!

Probably the best way of removing pine needles, is to get up on the roof with a power full garden hose & hosing them out of the gutters, after first removing the down pipes from below the gutters!!

I know the Gutter Guard idea works very well indeed as I have installed them on 4 very large houses that each sit directly beneath very large pine trees!

These gutter guards might be slightly expensive, produced by Marley, but one is needed on each down pipe to be effective!!!

A bit of useless advice;is that pine needles actually give off a gum that clogs water filters very fast, especially if they are allowed to enter a water tank & be used as drinking water. So if you can keep them out of the water tank, you shouldn't have much trouble with them decaying in the tank.

Cheers!!
