Frequently Asked Questions

How Can I Rid My Patio Of Mosquitoes?
I Live On The Ground Floor Of A 3 Story Apartment, And I Am Having A Problem With Mosquitoes. It Has Been Dry, So I Don'T Know Where They Are Coming From. The Problem Is Only On My Back Patio, Which Is A 10 X 12 Foot Concrete Slab Surrounded By Pine Straw. I Live In South Carolina, So It Is Hot And Humid, But The Only Water That I Can Detect Is The Condensation From My Air Conditioning Unit, Which Drips Out Of The Side Of The Building. I Don'T Know What To Do To Stop This. I Can'T Really Grow Anything, Unless It Could Possibly Be Hung From A Hanging Basket From The Patio Above Mine. Is There Any Kind Of Concoction I Could Whip Up And Leave In A Jar That Would Attract Then Kill Them? Or Is There Something That Would Deter Them? Thank You So Much For Your Help!

I have 5 bamboo holders about 4 feet high with special citronella oil burners in them all around my patio, just light the wicks and they keep them critters away, even in a wind they dont blow out! Excellent... i live in London but i am assuming you must be able to purchase them in America......

What Is High-Quality Brand Of Artificial Christmas Tree And Where To Find It?
It'S The Holiday Season Again, And I Need To Find A High-Quality, Artificial Christmas Tree. However, The Ones I'Ve Seen At Discount Stores Like Wal-Mart Don'T Use The Same Type Of &Quot;Pine Needles&Quot; On The Inner Portion Of The Tree, To Make The Tree Cheaper. Unfortunately, They Really Don'T Look As Nice As I Would Like, Especially Since I Plan To Use The Tree For At Least A Decade. I Need A Pre-Lit Tree Between 7-8.5 Ft Tall, At Least 3.5 Ft Wide, With A Metal Base. I Don'T Need Pine Cones Or &Quot;Snow&Quot;. Do You Have An Artificial Tree You Really Like Or Have You Seen Some Really Nice Ones? Where Did You Get It And What Brand And Model Is It? Thank You So Much For Your Help.

Good question, it's really not clear what you are getting when you look! On top of that manufacturers tend to sell the same tree different places with different names - just to make it confusing. So a tree might be GE one place and Santa's best another - and they are made at the same place in China.

I'm looking for a new tree this year and think I'll end up purchasing from Bronners (http://www.bronners.com/categories/christmas-trees-accessories/pre-lit-trees) they have a lot of variety and most list how long the warranty is. I like pre-lit trees but keep in mind that these are guaranteed as long.

I Have Little Landscaping Questions.?
I Have Bermuda Grass With No Weeds , I Want To Invest In A Lawnmower So That I Dont Want To Pay No One To Cut It. What The Best Lawnmower To Buy That Want Burn My Grass And Make Dollar Spots. Also How Often And How To Put Pine Straws Out Around Home???

Any of the cheaper 18'' to 22" push mowers with Briggs engine will do great work. The Honda engines are more expensive and I love them, they do great and last forever. That said, I have several Briggs engines that are 25 years old and still running fine. I have used synthetic oil for 30 years or more in everything I own and change once a season. Small yard, get 18" mower with 3.5 hp or more if it available. Larger mowers must be 5 to 6 hp. To have the perfect lawn the blade sharpness in more important than the mower. Always remove it and use a file to sharpen it.

Bermuda likes to be cut short as opposed to St Augustine or fescues who like to be cut at the highest adjustment. Just make sure you wheel height is right for your lawn if it's bumpy or has sharp contours

Riding Mowers, again, size to your yard and go for plenty Horse Power and a shuttle transmission. It will allow you to have high rpm and go very slow when you need. The bigger Briggs engine are as good as the Honda's and cheaper.

I might add that you should always put the anti-varnish additive in your gas can before filling the mower tank.

Christmas Tree Questions?
This Is My First Year Buying A Christmas Tree And I Don'T Know Much About It. What Type Of Christmas Tree Is The Best To Get? I Want A Thick Green Lush Tree, With Softer Needles. Well Scented, (But This Comes Last As I Can Use Candles Etc) What Type Of Tree Lasts Longer And When Can I Set One Up So It Will Last Till Christmas? Are There Any Tricks To Keeping It Alive Etc? Thank You!

You need to go and pick a tree yourself, everybody has their favourite type, mine is pine.
Make sure you water the tree, you can use a spray and some stands do hold water. Many people where I live, in the country, put their tree in a bin filled with water over night whilst it's still in the netting, or even for a day or two and they tend to last a long time.
